We are proud to share the story of Alvin Schwartz, a devoted member of our Pet Protectors Society®, whose lifelong love for rescue animals began with a chance introduction to North Shore Animal League America over 50 years ago. Alvin was seeking a furry friend to add to his home when a family member recommended, he visit our Adoption Center. It was there that he fell in love with an eight-week-old Schnauzer mix named Bridget, who became a beloved companion and lifelong friend.
Years later, after Bridget passed away, Alvin was once again seeking a loyal canine companion and turned to Animal League America for help. He attended one of our adoption events in Manhattan and, to his surprise, ended up adopting a one-year-old Tibetan Spaniel named Bridget, who he lovingly cared for until her passing in 2021. Alvin's experience with Bridget taught him the valuable lesson that our pets innately know how to love and be kind to others, and as a testament to his love for rescue animals, he has generously set aside a planned gift for North Shore Animal League America as part of his estate. We are honored to have supporters like Alvin who not only provide bright futures for homeless animals, but also honor the memories of their beloved companions.
