Sharon McCrea’s beloved cat, Kale, may look like a feline, but she possesses many canine qualities. “Kale does not like other cats, but she loves people,” Sharon described. “She follows me around and comes when she’s called. When she wants to play, she’ll even bring her toy to me to throw!” Living alone, Sharon cherishes the company that Kale provides, especially the companionship that helped get her through the pandemic’s isolation.
Knowing that Kale’s future is protected should anything happen to Sharon is vital to her peace of mind. Sharon first heard about the Safe Haven Surviving Pet Care Program® at an Animal League America event, and now that Kale is enrolled, she can rest easy. The Safe Haven Surviving Pet Care Program is open to both cats and dogs nationwide, and enrollment can be incorporated into your estate planning. Once in the program and should the need arise, your pet will be transported to our Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Canine Adoption Center or our Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, where we will care for them as long as it takes to findthem a responsible and loving home.
The Safe Haven Surviving Pet Care Program is something Sharon feels all pet owners should consider, and she has plans to spread the word among her co-workers in Nashville. “Our pets trusted us when we adopted them knowing we’d take care of them,” Sharon noted. “So we need to make sure they will always be safe.” For more information on the Safe Haven Surviving Pet Care Program, please contact Amy Dash at 516.812.7218 or AmyD@animalleague.org.
